Anthropic files for Nasdaq IPO with KSh 2.12T first-half revenue

Key Highlights

  • Anthropic disclosed KSh 2.12 trillion in first-half 2026 revenue in its S-1 filing on 26 October, a 1,304 per cent rise.
  • The Claude maker plans to list under ticker ANT, with most of the net loss from non-cash charges.
  • Chipmakers and the AI trade rallied on the filing that put a concrete number on enterprise AI spending.

Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models, filed its Form S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 26 October 2026, seeking to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, according to the SEC filing.

Anthropic files for Nasdaq IPO with KSh 2.12T first-half revenue

The filing shows revenue of KSh 2.12 trillion ($16.29 billion) for the six months ended 30 June 2026, up 1,304 per cent from KSh 150.8 billion ($1.16 billion) in the same period of 2025. Full-year 2025 revenue stood at KSh 596.7 billion ($4.59 billion).

Revenue growth and operating picture

Most of the first-half revenue arrived in the second quarter, when Anthropic generated KSh 1.51 trillion ($11.6 billion) and posted its first reported operating profit of KSh 126.6 billion ($974 million). For the half as a whole the company still recorded an operating loss of KSh 90.1 billion ($693 million), narrower than the KSh 278.2 billion ($2.14 billion) operating loss a year earlier.

The net loss for the first half reached KSh 10.49 trillion ($80.7 billion). The bulk of that figure, roughly KSh 9.36 trillion ($72 billion), stems from non-cash changes in the fair value of convertible notes and other financing instruments that rose with the company's valuation, not from cash spent running the business.

Consumption-based usage fees accounted for about 80 per cent of revenue. As of 30 September the company had more than 11,900 customers generating at least KSh 13 million ($100,000) each in trailing twelve-month revenue.

Compute commitments and market reaction

The filing also reveals large long-term compute and infrastructure commitments. Chip stocks and the wider technology sector rose on the day of the filing, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining 0.82 per cent as investors treated the disclosure as confirmation of sustained enterprise demand for AI capacity.

Neither the number of shares to be sold nor the price range appears in the initial S-1. Market reports have spoken of a potential valuation between KSh 195 trillion ($1.5 trillion) and KSh 260 trillion ($2 trillion), but those figures are not stated in the prospectus itself.

For African investors and companies that already use Claude or similar models through cloud marketplaces, the filing supplies the first official scale of revenue growth and the capital intensity of the sector. It also arrives in the same week that Meta Platforms announced plans to raise as much as KSh 12.35 trillion ($95 billion) for its own AI infrastructure.
